DiplomasActual Diplomas will not be given out at graduation. Graduates will receive their diplomas once the Office of the Registrar has validated records. You will be notified when diplomas are ready for distribution. The notification letter will include pick-up instructions and information about any outstanding balances that must be cleared before it will be released to you . They will not be distributed to students who owe money to the College. This will be the only diploma you will receive, so please keep it in a safe place. Class RingsTo place an order for a Class Ring visit www.jostens.com Caps and GownsHerff-Jones will be back at MCNY on Monday, June 9th and Tuesday, June 10th from 2 - 7 PM for Cap and Gown Distribution for students who placed orders during Commencement Week. During Cap and Gown Distribution, Herff-Jones will have additional Caps and Gowns on sale for those students who have not yet placed an order. The College will be honoring students who satisfactorily completed degree requirements for the semesters ending in August 2007, December 2007 and April 2008. For those who completed in April, only your academic record is being audited at this time. Because of time constraints, your non-academic record may take longer to audit. If you have not completed an application for graduation, available at the Office of the Registrar, please do so now. After an application is filed, records are then checked and eligibility for graduation is confirmed. The Office of the Registrar then prepares the list of students who qualify to participate in commencement. If you have questions about participating call extension 5008. When and Where? Graduation is scheduled for Saturday, June 14, 2008 at The Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, located in Manhattan 11th Avenue between 34th and 39th Streets. Use the entrance at 11 th Avenue and 35 th Street and arrive by 3:00 PM for the Graduation Picture. A Jacob K. Javits Center Guide will be distributed at the Cap and Gown distribution. CONGRATULATIONS, CLASS of 2008! DirectionsDirections to the Jacob K. Javits Center, 11th Avenue between 34th and 39th Streets: Public Transportation Please keep in mind that the public transportation fare is $2.00. The subways accept MetroCards. Buses accept MetroCards and exact change fares. With MetroCards you can transfer from subway to bus and bus to subway for one fare. In just 4 minutes the ferry takes you across the Hudson River to 39th Street and 12th Avenue, just one block from the Javits Center. Just park at the convenient lot adjacent to the ferry terminal and take a ferry which leaves every 10 - 15 minutes during peak hours. Call 1-800-53-FERRY for schedule and information. By Car From the North ( Westchester, Connecticut, Massachusetts) Saw Mill River Parkway/Henry Hudson Parkway/Route 9A: Follow 9A South to 42nd Street. Turn Left. Go one block to 11th Avenue and turn right. New York State Thruway/Major Deegan Expressway/Route 87: Major Deegan Expressway to George Washington Bridge exit. Stay in right lane towards lower level. Exit at the last exit in New York–Parkway South–9A. Follow Parkway South ( Henry Hudson Parkway/ West Side Highway) to 42nd Street. Turn left. Go one block to 11th Avenue and turn right. From the South ( New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Etc.) George Washington Bridge to Parkway South– 9A. At 42nd Street, turn left. Go one block to 11th Avenue and turn right. From Queens and Long Island Queensboro/59th Street Bridge: Take 60/ 61st Street Exit. Go to 5th Avenue alongside Central Park to 59th Street. Turn right onto 59th Street to 7th Avenue and turn left.
