Student Activities/Student Life
The Office of Student Services strives to offer students a variety of activities
throughout the semester that serve to bring the college community together.
Students can participate not only in enriching educational activities but also
social gatherings such as trips to television shows, tapings, luncheons, and
movies. Student activities depend on student involvement, so it is important
for students to express what kind of activities they would like to participate
in. Here are some of the activities that we sponsor:
Our office also has information on housing and childcare, graduation,
assistance for international students, counseling and information about ID
cards and replacement ID cards.
And, since we are located in one of the most amazing areas in NYC, you will
definitely want to take advantage of all this great neighborhood has to offer. Click
here for MCNY's Leisure Guide.
Film Forum
Each month the Office of Student Services organizes a “Film Forum” which
presents thoughtful and engaging films to bring lively conversations on popular
culture to students, faculty and staff. Each screening ends with a spirited
discussion of the film lead by a group of panelists.
Student Government
Student Government comprises student-elected representatives from each extension
site as well as the main campus in Manhattan. The primary purpose of the
Student Government is to serve as your voice at the College and provide leadership
to the College community. Although the elected members work independently
from the Office, our Office coordinates the elections and functioning of
the Government.
Housing and Childcare Information
The Coordinator of Student Activities also develops and over sees programs
that promote wellness and health while providing support in non-academic areas.
This will include counseling referrals, housing and child care referrals, a
Daycare Centers Resource Guide is available in our Office.
International Students
We offer a comprehensive support system for International Students that includes
resources for housing, insurance, international student loans, cultural institutions,
as well as an international student organization. Special events and skills
workshops geared towards addressing the unique needs of the international
students are also provided.
Counseling Services
Informal counseling is available to you on an individual basis. We are here to help you develop the coping, planning and problem-solving skills needed to function independently as working, adult learners. In addition, you can use the Resource and Referral Guide available in our office for assistance with clinical problems or issues, including domestic violence and substance abuse. Our counselors can help you find formal counseling in the community (including all extension centers).
Student ID Cards
College I.D. cards are issued through the Office of Student Services, free
of charge. There is $10.00 fee for replacement cards. I.D. cards must be validated every semester, upon registration. Validation
stickers are available in Student Services and the Registrar’s office.
All students are expected to carry an MCNY Identification card at all times.
Contact our office if you lose your ID.
