A Message From the Dean

Being a master's degree candidate in the emergency and disaster management discipline is an exploration into a new frontier. The emergency management profession is a relatively new field of endeavor that is growing rapidly and embraces a wide variety of applications.

Whether your interest is response, security, mental health, administration, recovery, business continuity, planning, consulting or mitigation, the world needs trained emergency managers and Metropolitan College of New York can give you the tools, experience and certifications to find your career path and make a major contribution.

This is an exciting time of growth and evolution in our department, where many strategic partnerships are being formed that will allow our students to supplement their course experience with hands-on, off-site opportunities and certification workshops that greatly will enhance employability. Online curriculum also is an option and will add flexibility to class schedules, internships and projects that will give you real-world experience before graduation.

As director of the emergency and disaster management program, I look forward to working with you in your endeavor to become a fellow emergency management professional, working shoulder-to-shoulder in bringing compassionate order and relief wherever crisis events happen throughout the world.

Ali Gheith, Director
