Metropolitan College of New York
The MPA in Emergency and Disaster Management

About this Program

The Masters of Public Administration in Emergency Management and Homeland Security is an advanced degree program which opens new career tracks for recent college graduates as well as those looking to change careers, and further develops the knowledge base of professionals already working in the field.

Comprehensive emergency management and homeland security is a complex field that requires expertise in multiple areas. This highly-specialized degree will cover the planning, management, logistics, response, relief, recovery and economics associated with managing emergency situations.

This is a 16-month Master’s degree requiring completion of 45 credits over four semesters of study. Included in the tuition and curriculum is an off-site study component which consists of a 7-10 day on-site excursion.

To accommodate working professionals, classes meet on Friday evenings and Saturday day.

This unique program integrates the College's Purpose-Centered System of Education, and each student will develop actual comprehensive emergency management plans for the organization where he or she is working. More than a thesis, this will serve as a case study and plan of action.
