Living, Studying and Working in NYC

Housing

Although campus housing is not featured at our college, we do work with individual applicants to assist them in securing housing through our collaboration with other international institutions working closely with Metropolitan College of New York. In addition, New York City hosts many international youth hostels and roommate services. Off-campus housing arrangements in shared or private facilities can be arranged.

Here are some additional links you may find helpful when looking for housing:

Employment

Our unique curriculum requires that, each semester, students connect learning to practice. For this reason it is possible that students awarded the I-20 to attend Metropolitan College of New York may become eligible to work under very specific guidelines determined by the Immigration and Naturalization Service of the Government of the United States of America (INS).

All international applicants must demonstrate financial ability to cover all educational, housing, travel and other expenses related to the period of time they are approved to pursue full time degree studies in the United States. Qualified graduate students may be approved for part time employment (20 hours weekly during the semester, up to 40 hours during vacation periods) under curriculum practical training provisions. Qualified undergraduates may also become eligible after their first semester. This benefit may continue through completion of the degree. Upon completion of the Bachelor's or the Master's students may apply for a year of "Optional Practical Training" in their major field. This one time only benefit permits students to work full-time for one year following graduation. The timely filing of appropriate forms and fees through your Metropolitan College of New York International Student Advisor is required by INS for such approval.

International student advisors are available to assist in the orientation of new students from abroad and to guide qualified students to become eligible for employment through timely application processes made on their behalf.
