About this Program
MCNY's accredited Bachelor of Arts in American Urban Studies degree is a unique liberal arts degree that provides students with a strong foundation in economics, sociology, humanities, math and natural sciences. NYC is the global learning laboratory that provides MCNY students with opportunities to participate in world-renowned NYC cultural organizations, government organizations, and international institutions.
Course Offerings
The first two semesters introduce students to basic college skills, as well as critical thinking, effective writing, and using technology. Subsequent semesters involve more in-depth learning and it is a requirement that each student participates in an internship.
Meet the Faculty
Here are some of the full-time and adjunct professors (who are all practitioners in their fields). Ours is a highly committed group who not only impart knowledge, but encourage and nurture students to excel.
A Message from the Dean
Meet Dean Ruth Lugo. She sets the course for the program and works with the faculty and administration to deliver an exceptional learning experience to every student.
Dean's Office
These are the people in the Dean's Office who are here to help you.
Constructive Action
The Constructive Action is the heart of MCNY's Purpose-Centered Education. Each semester students produce a Constructive Action (CA) paper that not only demonstrates mastery of the semester's Purpose, but also seeks to improve or address a specific situation at the student’s internship site.
Learning Enhancement Center
This federal funded Center offers comprehensive academic support, in the form of one-on-one and online tutoring, to help MCNY students develop their writing, math and other skills.
Undergraduate Assessment
MCNY has a long history of assessing student performance in its unique educational model. Assessment results are used individually by students for professional and personal development, and collectively by the College to improve teaching and learning.
