Internships

Information for Students

At MCNY you will take what you learn in the classroom and actually apply it in a professional setting. Supervised field experience provides an opportunity for the student to evaluate assumptions, principles, and concepts taught in the classroom. Additionally, it provides learning that is brought back into the classroom, thereby enriching the academic experience.

  • Undergraduate Human Services students are required to complete an internship of at least 14 hours a week for 14 weeks per semester. Students can use their worksites to complete the internship requirements.
  • The MPA program requires the students complete an internship for a one year period. The weekly hours are agreed upon by the field supervisor, professor and the student.
  • Business students discuss and plan criteria for their Constructive Action class with their professors. Hours and duration are agreed upon at that time.

MCNY's curriculum fully integrates the classroom and the workplace, so, for students who are not employed, the College's Office of Career Services will work to provide contact to a challenging internship site. Students may have the opportunity to participate in as many as seven different internships or employment opportunities over the course of their studies..
