Metropolitan College of New York
MBA in General Management

A Message From the Dean

Dear Students,

As the new Dean of the School of Management, I would like to help usher you into the new year and to many good things to come.

Let me take this opportunity to announce a couple of significant changes at the college. A new dedicated entrance for the college has been opened on Canal Street, a new state of the art conference space has also been completed on the 11th floor and we have welcomed a new Dean of Enrollment, Mr. Steven Lenhart. Additionally, in October, The School for Business and The School of Public Affairs and Administration was merged to create a new School of Management. During this reorganization, I have met with your professors in order to learn more about them and issues and concerns that they may have. I am genuinely satisfied that the faculty in the School of Management are highly motivated and eager to be learning partners in the pursuit of your various college degrees.

My plans include creating a more cohesive unit of the courses/dimensions and professors within each Purpose and leading the way for a smooth transition into new programs such as the Financial Services MBA. I am committed to ensuring that the College’s unique Purpose-centered model of education becomes more firmly embedded in the educational delivery of the College and that the principle of theory married to practice will be celebrated as a superior teaching approach.

As the new dean, I bring the following experience to our new School of Management:

  • A JD degree from Howard University School of Law
  • Over 25 years of teaching experience at the college
  • 20 years of experience as a Dean
  • Expertise in the areas of developing and executing well received programs (key architect in the development and articulation of the Master of Science in Administration degree, the Master of Public Administration degree and also in the Master of Emergency and Disaster Management degree)
  • Principal author of the Systems, Values and Ethics and Self and Others dimension course outlines that you use today and through out your education at MCNY
  • Understanding of accreditation practices (involved in the strategic planning of the National Association of School of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA), the professional association that represents and accredits schools in the field of public affairs and administration)
  • A genuine appreciativeness and dedication to MCNY and the students and staff that make this institution special.
If at anytime you have concerns or feedback (positive or negative), please feel free to stop by my office (11th floor, room 40), call me at 212-343-1234 ext. 2600 or email me at . A more formal appointment can be made through my assistants David Hahn ( or ext. 2602) or Inez Mantzaris ( or ext. 2202).

Best wishes,

Humphrey Crookendale
